Denali National Park and Matthew's 6th Bday

Once a year in September there is a lottery to drive through Denali National Park. If you don't have this lottery pass you have to ride in school buses in order to see Denali. Our dear friends, the Dekays, were so generous and gave us one of their lottery passes. I hear they are hard to get so we were very fortunate. We had amazing weather, beautiful views of Denali, a nice, free cabin to stay in, good friends, and good wildlife viewing. This was by far my best Alaska experience.

Drew is 4!

Drew turned 4 on March 28th. He had a very fun birthday and was spoiled by his family and friends. He now has collected all of the Toy Story figures and has more "lego guys" than we can keep track of. Drew loves little toys and always has one in his hands, pockets, shoes, or any other spot he can find for them. He loves legos and enjoyed his lego cake we made for him.

Escape to Paradise

Okay, it wasn't Hawaii, but it sure was a wonderful escape from winter! We were able to spend some time with my brother Ryan and his wife Jessica and Kaleb the first week. The next week we met up with Erica and her boys Dawson and Isaac and Trisha and Naomi (all cousins). It was so much fun and Matthew and Drew loved being with their cousins. We also saw Brandee and Jeremy Hubbard which was wonderful. Disneyland truly is magical and I cannot wait until our next trip in 2011 when all the new rides will be comleted.

First fishing in Alaska was ice fishing for us! It really was a lot of fun. Matthew and Drew caught 2 fish. Drew managed to fall in one of the holes into the water, not too surprising.

This is the best shot I have of Boba Fett and Buzz. We have had so many Halloween parties this week that Drew dressed up as something different at every party. It was a frigid Halloween night but we still had a good time. I love Halloween.

H1N1 STRIKES!

What a miserable few days we've had! I now understand why the flu kills those who are already weakened! We, along with the family upstairs have been struck. High fevers, chills, body aches, headaches, sore throats, and a horrible cough are some of the symptoms we've had. I hope this is not a sign of what this winter has in store for us (I think winter is already here. There is snow on the mountains and it was 40 degrees today. YIKES!) I think we are on the mend and are hopefully now immune to this yucky flu.

Poor Matthew didn't even want to celebrate his 5th birthday. He has been looking forward to this birthday with much anticipation. We were able to drug him enough to celebrate around 1030 pm Friday night. I wish I had taken more pictures, but H1N1 had taken me over! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MATTHEW.

What Would You Do For Free Blueberries?

The things I will do to get something for free! We climbed Mt. Baldy last week in hopes of some delicious blueberries. I underestimated the rainstorms here. Jesse wanted to turn back after it started to rain but I was obsessed with picking blueberries. When we reached the top there were blueberries galore. Delicious....no. I was expecting Costco quality blueberries. We literally slid down the mountain on our way back to the jeep. It was definitely a hike to remember. We were covered from head to toe in mud, any boys dream! Thanks for the ponchos mom.

Winner Creek Trail

This last weekend we hiked the Winner Creek Trail by Alyeska Resort. I would have to say this was the highlight of my Alaska adventures thus far. When you get to the top you can ride across the river in a hand tram. I was surprised at how high above the water the tram was. Not for someone who is afraid of heights! Matthew and Drew loved it. It is 2.5 miles each way. Drew's legs hurt for 3 days afterwards. He slept in until 1100 the next day and literally couldn't get himself out of bed.

We made it to Alaska

My last post announced we were moving to Alaska and we have finally arrived. I know the suspense was probably killing you. I once heard that moving is right next to death and divorce when it comes to stressful events. I have not experienced death nor divorce and never want to! I dread the day we have to pack up and move again.

We lived with my parents the month of June while Jesse uhauled his way to Alaska. The boys and I flew to Alaska July 6th while Jesse was in New York doing some training. We had a great time with friends and family while in Utah. We are currently living in Eagle River Alaska and enjoying it so far. The weather is an adjustment. I never thought I would crave the blazing Vegas rays. Today was about 60 degrees and rainy. I will post a few pictures of our adventures the last couple of months. I am sorry that I did not get the chance to tell all my LV friends goodbye. I miss all of you and wish I had more time that last month.

Jesse and his dad drove our stuff all the way here (3400 miles) This is a picture of them at Lake Louise Canada. Thank you Gordon for doing this for us. Jesse really enjoyed the time he was able to spend with you. There were a few lakes that were still frozen!

We are living in the basement apartment of another family here in Eagle River. They are both police officers. I help out with their four boys and cook dinner 3 days a week in exchange for cheaper rent. They are good boys but it has been a big adjustment. I would love good meal ideas if anyone has any to share!

We Are Moving to ALASKA!

Jesse was accepted to a dental pediatric residency in Anchorage Alaska! We are very excited, and yes,a little nervous. We will be going from one climate extreme to another. I guess we'll be moving by the end of May. It's only a 3,000 mile road trip. Not a big deal. We'll keep you posted

Santa Monica Pier and Interview

Last week Jesse had an interview at UCLA. I decided to tag along with the boys. Jesse told me multiple times that I was not invited on this interview. I was told this while Drew was throwing up in the dental school waiting room and as they were throwing their tantrums. It's hard to understand why he wouldn't have wanted us there. Anyways, that was my first time visiting LA and I don't know how I feel about the place. Traffic is HORRIBLE and I didn't feel like I belonged. While Drew was throwing up in the Dental clinic everyone just stared at us and didn't offer to help. That would not happen here. I think people here in Las Vegas are typically pretty nice and helpful. Besides the normal drama that comes with Children we had a great time at the beach.

I think. Ken and Nat have been so good about coming to visit us while we've been here. Ken probably makes his visits here to gamble, but we enjoy having him anyways. Matthew's First Day of Preschool

I have been waiting 4 years for this day! Matthew loves his preschool class. His teacher, Mrs. Aubrey is the best and Matthew adores her. Drew and I are enjoying our Tuesday and Thursday afternoons together. It is very peaceful when Matthew is away. Drew is able to play with Matthew's toys without the fear of being attacked from behind. They are a lot easier to care for when separated.

Our trips are never long enough when we visit Southern California. I have been sucked into Disneyland and truly believe it is the most Magical place on earth. I don't know who enjoys it more me or my children. Jesse is just a good sport and follows me to Disneyland whenever I want to go. My kids loved going with the pickup kids. Thanks Pickups for a good time at disneyland. hope there are more trips to come!

Macee and Matthew loved climbing inside the California letters. They were able to go on just about every ride inside Disney and DCA. They were brave and rode the Tower of Terror together.

Yo Ho Yo Ho a Pirates Life for Me!

We were fortunate enough to stay at the "Pirate Mansion" in Boulder City again this year with the Reeder family. We love the Reeder family and always have such a wonderful time with them. Thanks for the awesome trip. For those of you who don't know about this place. I will attempt to describe it. Our friends from Brigham City have a friend who owns this place in Boulder city. There are the funnest pools with super fast water slides. The whole place is pirate themed. He supposedly bought a lot of the props from the old Pirates of the Carribean at Disneyland and Treasure Island here in Vegas. It is amazing. It is like having a huge resort to yourself.

We all enjoyed unlimited free ice cream cones while we were there.

I will post more pictures of the slides when I get the pics from my mom.

Jesse and I have discovered that we can steal our neighbors internet by sitting on our front porch! This is the best deal I've found yet in internet service. SHH don't tell.

I am the world's worst blogger. I always use the excuse that my kids keep me too busy. Well, they have been in Utah with their grandparents for a week and I still haven't blogged til now. I really am updating this to put Rachael's new feature on her blog to the test! As I mentioned before my mom drove the kids back to Utah after visiting here and has had them since last Friday! I know I am spoiled. I can't believe how much one can accomplish without kids. I am a bad mom and I don't even miss them yet. I am sure it is about to hit. Let's start with our trip to Disneyland. This trip was so much fun. Matthew and Drew loved Disneyland and loved Knotts berry farm. The lines were fairly short and we got our money's worth. Matthew was able to ride all the rides at Disneyland with the exception of Indiana Jones. He is crazy and didn't get scared on any of the rides.
